First part of the film focuses on events taking place at a Garden Party - stalls, tennis, crazy golf, talent contests and a ladies football match. Second half of the film concentrates on a group of elderly people visiting a ruined Abbey, memorial garden and boat rides on the river. [The preservation of this film was funded by a grant from the National Heritage Memorial Fund.]

This short comedy film stars Frank Randle, Tessie O'Shea and Dan Young and begins with a bedroom sketch as the family prepare to go on holiday. Next is a sketch with Frank and Dan trying to get the car to start before they all depart for a holiday in Blackpool. After a shot of the seafront at Balckpool taken from an aeroplane Frank does some funny business on the pier, rides a hobby horse bicycle, plays football and do the Hokey Cokey dance with all the other holidaymakers.

A motorway services on the M6 is featured, including footage of the cafeteria and car park. Further parades are seen at the opening of a new St John's Ambulance headquarters in Barrow accompanied by streetscenes in Barrow and Lancaster.
 
 
 
THE BURNLEY SCHOOL OF NURSING

Documentary about nurse training facilities in Burnley and District Hospitals. After shots of local attractions and scenery, the film follows the story of a trainee nurse from her application and interview for cadet training through to her work on the wards. She is seen in the classroom, tending to a variety of patients, assisting doctors and relaxing with colleagues. There is a prizegiving ceremony, and the successful nurses pose outside for photographs. Local leisure opportunities are illustrated (including shots of a parade for Burnley's Cup Final football team) before the film explores job prospects and further training. Trims compilation reel from 'The Burnley School of Nursing' begins with shots of nurses and staff inside Reedley Hall, Burnley followed by out-of-focus footage of a prizegiving ceremony and exterior shots of Reedley Hall, Hartley Hospital in Colne and the Marsden Hospital in Burnley. Trainees learn how to use a thermometer with the aid of a dummy in a hospital bed. After shots of a children's ward, the film cuts to scenes outside the town hall as crowds welcome Burnley FC following their appearance in the 1962 cup final. Couples dance inside the Mecca ballroom, before there are shots of Towneley Park and the gallery in the Hall. The film ends with shots of a committee meeting. TV report featuring the activities of the Knutsford (Egerton) Boys Club based at the Old Town Hall in Knutsford. A TV reporter addresses the camera outside the club before there are shots of the club's activities: table tennis, snooker, darts, chess, five-a-side football and gymnastics. Staff and boys are interviewed inside the club, and young women are quizzed on the street outside before the reporter signs off. Mrs Wild and the boys cross a stream in what is possibly the Trough of Bowland, before there are exterior shots of the Buck Inn in Buckden, and a boat trip on Windermere. Mr Wild plays football with the children before there are shots of the family on a putting green, on trampolines and watching dolphins perform at Marineland in Morecambe. Ends with footage of a visit to a model village, fairground, boating lake and miniature railway in Southport.

Holiday to Isle of Man including visits to Rushen Abbey where they walk around the gardens and enjoy some tea followed by watching a football match and a cycling race. Shots of different ships and boats around the harbour. More shots of the cycling race and a quick shot of the winner. The family attend an open air theatre show. The family then visit London where they visit places such as Buckingham Palace and Earls Court and other tourist attractions. Back home the family spend time in the garden, a very young baby can be seen sleeping in their pram.

Various boats can be seen out on the water, perhaps filmed at West Bank Boat Club (TBC). Family members play fetch with the dog. Back home in the family garden a woman gets some gardening done while the little girl and boy play on the swings and a tricycle. The family go on holiday to the Isle of Man, usual shots of ships, boats and the coast. Great scenic shots filmed from onboard the steam train. The family visit the gardens at Rushen Abbey followed by a walk up Snaefell, when at the top they visit the cafe and enjoy the views. The rest of the reel consists of more family at home in the garden, at the beach, go-karting, children playing in the garden and out on the street.
