A brass band march past and a film crew film at a seaside kiosk. Mrs Shaw walks around a model village then the dog eating a ice cream followed by choldren in a paddling pool and more beach scenes. Nicola sat on Mr Shaw's knee reading a book as elderly relatives sit on a sofa watching. At the Failsworth Community Centre a concert is held with a poetry recital by an elderly gentleman followed by singing and dancing. Underexposed shots of a mother and baby followed by Mrs Shaw and a little girl feeding the ducks in Heaton Park. Nicola and the Shaw family with a new born baby then Nicola eating ice creams and in the paddling pool and playground in Heaton Park. Nicola in the garden playing in a paddling pool then the baby with its parents and laughing in a chair. The film ends with a christening in a church and the party afterwards with all the family in attendance.

Scenes from the 1983 Bollington Carnival. We see a carnival procession. There are floats, and amongst them we see floats for the Bollington Carnival Queen and other regional carnival queens and princesses. There is a brass band, dancing troupes and people in fancy dress. There are views of the spectators standing along the pavements and in the doorways of their homes. We then see scenes from the carnival field. People wander round the field, and there is an ice cream van and a bouncy castle. There are displays from the dance troupes and a ceremony with civic dignitaries.

The parade arrives at the showground with people in fancy dress collecting money for charity and the coronation of the Rose Queen commences.
