One of the women is holding a stills camera (possibly a Box Brownie) and winding the film back; the older of the two men then takes over. Members of the Preston family on holiday in Bournemouth. The film begins with scenes of the family sitting in a garden. A little boy turns somersaults on a rope hanging from a tree. They are then seen playing on a crowded beach, paddling in the sea and watching a Punch and Judy Show. The film concludes with shots of the seafront taken from on board the 'Bournemouth Queen'.

Footage of the Tomlinson family at home, and in their garden, playing with the baby and the family dog. There are also picnics in Wythenshawe park (?). Views from a holiday in a Welsh cottage include a game of cricket on the beach, numerous ducks and their broods on a pond, and sailboats on the sea. Footage shot at Peterhead in Northern Scotland includes a train journey, views of battered boats in dock, and fishermen unloading their catches at the quayside.

A Communist party rally and Wilfrid Burke MP on the stump during the 1950 General Election campaign in Burnley. At the Communist rally, a man uses a microphone to address a small crowd, who are stood on wasteland outside Holden & Hartley car dealers holding placards. Wilfrid Burke MP walks along a cobbled street and meets (mostly female) workers outside a factory. Burke talks and poses with them and they all walk towards the camera. The film ends with a shot of a polling station. Scouts climb onto a tour bus for Whitsuntide camp, where they are seen playing cricket, tree felling and eating dinner. Views from Scorton village during the 1949 Rally, featuring scouts on bicycles and the Scorton Cafe. A procession makes its way into a churchyard, where an inspection is followed by a prize giving ceremony. Scouts are seen climbing trees with step ladders at Windermere Great Tower camp and posing for the camera, followed by panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Views of sightseeing around the borough of Westminster follow and a visit to Omeath, with scenes of paddling down a rapids in a dinghy, waiting for a steam train and street life.

Moss family holiday in Bournemouth including Judith Moss playing and dancing in the hotel gardens with other children, on the beach and paddling in the sea. Relatives are seen playing golf on the sea front and sunbathing on deckchairs as Judith builds sandcastles. Footage includes shots of the Blue Lagoon lake, a children's party and people walking up a Zig Zag path on the hillside in Bournemouth (with a short sequence in reverse). The reel concludes with horse riding in Southport.

Children playing in a back garden in Prestwich, Manchester are followed by the Moss family on a holiday to Paris. Staff at the film-maker's scarf manufacturer's, including Phil Gold, are seen holding up printed scarves for the camera. Judith Moss is seen laying in bed during an illness, playing with a toy horse in the family back garden and on the beach with her mother Freda during a holiday to Bournemouth. The reel concludes with children dancing on an outdoor stage as part of a Summer fete.
 
 
 
[1950 CHILDREN IN LIVERPOOL - ANN,CAROL AND STAN]

Stan playing with toy aeroplanes in the garden, the twins Carol and Ann write their names and the date on blackboards. The children are taken for a walk and at a level crossing they wait for the train to pass with Carol and Ann standing on the footbridge over the railway tracks. THe children play with a model train set and then complete a jigsaw puzzle with the help of some trick photography. Stan, Ann and Carol are next seen walking various streets in Liverpool city centre, they cross the road in front of St. George's Hall, stand at the entrance to the Mersey Tunnel and look into various shop windows including Bunny's toy shop before returning home on Granmore Avenue for their tea.

Speeches and presentations at Abel Street School in Burnley, possibly to mark the retirement of the headteacher, Mr Moffit. Speeches are delivered in the school hall and boys present gifts and flowers to the guests of honour as pupils applaud. A roll of honour board is unveiled by one of the schoolchildren. The film ends with shots in a classroom where a smaller presentation is made in front of an invited audience, and a buffet is seen in the background. Their pram rolls down the hill, their ball falls into the pond and has to be retrieved, and there is a mishap with a ball of wool.
