The film opens with scenes of the cliffs at Dover, and then we see the teachers and pupils on a boat heading across the Channel. In the next scenes they sit outside a cafe in France before boarding a small steam train. The steam train takes them up into the Alps where we see them unloading their bags. We see the boys at camp, they play ball games, pitch tents, prepare, cook and distribute food, wash their clothes and shave. We also see one of the teachers treating the boys with blistered feet, there are close up shots of his treatments. We see the boys trekking in the mountains. There are lots of shots of dramatic mountain scenery and close up shots of Alpine flowers. | |||

This film opens with a sequence titled 'Welcome Blue Skies', which documents Dempsey family life in spring, summer and autumn. In spring we see Mrs Dempsey putting her hot water bottle away in a drawer, getting out her spring dresses and doing the spring cleaning. There are shots of spring flowers and lambs in a field. We see the Dempsey boys out fishing and sat picking the flowers in a field of bluebells. In the summer we see the family on holiday in Southport where they visit a fairground and a boating lake. They also visit the 1954 Lytham St. Anne's Agriculture and Horticultural Show. Here we see dog shows, show jumping and a flower show amongst other things. In the autumn we see shots of flowers, blackberry bushes and apple trees. The boys are indoors now, painting and putting photographs in albums. Mrs Dempsey fills the hot water bottle from the kettle. We then see further scenes titled 'Bait for an Archer'. The boys are out in the fields with their bows and arrows pretending to stalk their prey, with jokey captions and a cartoon lion edited in. | |||
