Scenes from the 1954 Manchester Grammar School trekking holiday in the Alps. The film opens with scenes of the cliffs at Dover, and then we see the teachers and pupils on a boat heading across the Channel. In the next scenes they sit outside a cafe in France before boarding a small steam train. The steam train takes them up into the Alps where we see them unloading their bags. We see the boys at camp, they play ball games, pitch tents, prepare, cook and distribute food, wash their clothes and shave. We also see one of the teachers treating the boys with blistered feet, there are close up shots of his treatments. We see the boys trekking in the mountains. There are lots of shots of dramatic mountain scenery and close up shots of Alpine flowers.

Footage of the Wedding of Joan and Bill (surname unknown). The film begins with Joan leaving home getting into the wedding car with her mother and father. The Bride and Groom, then greet their guests at the wedding reception, along with the Bridesmaids, Pageboy and Flower girl. Close up of the tied wedding cake and then Bill and Joan cutting the cake. The newlyweds dance together, and are joined by the guests in a kayleigh dance accompanied by a an accordion player. The film ends with a group shot of the wedding party.

Before the flower show opens, men work to construct the site, and displays are set up inside the marquees; then the 'Silver Jubilee Show' opens with floral displays, and activities such as sheepdog trials and showjumping to entertain the crowds. There are also aerial views of the show ground before the show closes and the site is cleared. The reel ends with general views of crowds on the seafront.
 
 
 
WELCOME BLUE SKIES; BAIT FOR AN ARCHER

This film opens with a sequence titled 'Welcome Blue Skies', which documents Dempsey family life in spring, summer and autumn. In spring we see Mrs Dempsey putting her hot water bottle away in a drawer, getting out her spring dresses and doing the spring cleaning. There are shots of spring flowers and lambs in a field. We see the Dempsey boys out fishing and sat picking the flowers in a field of bluebells. In the summer we see the family on holiday in Southport where they visit a fairground and a boating lake. They also visit the 1954 Lytham St. Anne's Agriculture and Horticultural Show. Here we see dog shows, show jumping and a flower show amongst other things. In the autumn we see shots of flowers, blackberry bushes and apple trees. The boys are indoors now, painting and putting photographs in albums. Mrs Dempsey fills the hot water bottle from the kettle. We then see further scenes titled 'Bait for an Archer'. The boys are out in the fields with their bows and arrows pretending to stalk their prey, with jokey captions and a cartoon lion edited in.

The unveiling of a war memorial plaque in Heaton Moor is followed by young adults carol singing, the visit of a local reporter to the producers' home cinema, snow scenes in Derbyshire, and a women's hockey match. There are also items covering the visit of the Duke of Edinburgh to open new laboratories in Wythenshawe, motorcycle scrambling in Ludworth, a veteran car rally in Buxton and the North East Cheshire Show. The film ends with a speedway meeting at Belle Vue racetrack.
