Compilation of domestic scenes featuring members of the Turner family, plus a church walk. Features scenes at Christmas in the family home, with shots of the decorations, children opening presents, playing with toys and messing around, and the family sitting down for dinner. There are several children's birthday parties throughout the film where kids play games, eat party food and, on one occasion, are entertained by a ventriloquist. Young girls play in the garden on a sunny day, before four older girls perform a play and a dance for the camera in the sitting room. Also featured is a christian procession between the church and school of Our Lady of the Assumption in Blackpool. THE NEWCOMERS

A film documenting the lives of Doreen and Arthur Hodgson, and Doreen's mother 'Nana' at New Ing Farm. The film opens with views of the village of Bolton by Bowland and countryside scenes. We see the work of the farm, and learn how Doreen and Arthur share the workload of the farm while Nana does the housekeeping and the gardening as well as smaller jobs around the farm. We see the family around the house and farm going about their work. There are farming scenes. We see how the Hodgsons care for their sheep and cattle and we see them at work on the land. We then learn the history of the herd of deer who live on the farm, starting with Arthur rescuing an abandoned fawn 'Bambi', who became so tame she would eat in their kitchen. Bambi eventually gave birth to more deer and the herd continued to expand, and we see how the Hodgsons care for their herd of tame deer, including creating a new paddock where they can all live together.

The film opens with scenes shot from a moving car, we see the other traffic on the roads and general views of the Peak District. We also see a viaduct, various pubs and road signs. There are scenes from Fountains Abbey, with shots of a mother and daughter who are most probably the filmmakers wife and daughter. There are shots of various places that they travel through, including York, Stafford, Newcastle upon Tyne and Durham. There are also brief scenes from Beamish Open Air Museum

[SALFORD UNIVERSITY: ENGINEERING, HALLS OF RESIDENCE & DISCO]

Engineering students and tutors at their drawing boards in Salford University's laboratories. We also see the students measuring and cutting sections of metal as well as using a computer. Cars pull up to the halls of residence where belongings are unloaded and students wander the corridors. Scenes from a disco with students dancing and close ups of the disc jockey and his deck. The film ends with scenes from behind the student bar with pints being pulled.

The annual Barrow parade begins with decorated floats with people in fancy dress collecting money for charity. They are followed by marching bands and local children's dance troupes watched by crowds lining the street The film ends with members of the Royal Artillery driving past in jeeps and lorries.

Scenes outside the church at baby Heather's christening followed a parade with marching bands, cub scouts, brownies and girl guides. Heather in the garden learning to walk with the help of her mother and grandmother. Brief shots of a Whit walk with clergymen, choirboys and religious banners. A wedding with the bride and groom exiting the church and posing for the photographers. A group of boys with chickens followed by Heather in the garden with a dog and then walking on the street with her mother.

Views of the original electric trains on the Manchester to Altrincham line at Stretford and Altrincham shortly before their replacement in April 1971, and of the class 504 electric trains on the Manchester to Bury line during the conversion of the line to the Metrolink Light Rapid Transit network. Further views show trains on the last day of operation on the Altrincham line on 24/12/1991, and the new Metrolink trams on test in the city centre prior to opening.
