Bill Brookes is seen walking through the streets of his home town of Darwen, and painting as he describes his early life and how he took up art to document his changing local environment. He carries out household activities whilst his wife Sheila reads in the sitting room. He paints, demonstrating his relief painting technique, and discusses Darwen's first exhibition, some of his paintings, and his thoughts on being a recognised artist. The cows are loaded onto the back of a livestock truck behind the dairy, and then seen at their new home on Brantbeck Farm near Lancaster. Brief scenes of a family holiday abroad and a baby in a pram are followed by more scenes on the farm. Footage of a motor racing meeting held by Aintree Circuit Club on 17th May 1975, marking 21 years of club races at the Aintree Motor Racing Circuit. The film opens with a brief history of the racing circuit, along with an insight into the present running of the club. A variety of cars are seen in the racing paddock, before completing practice laps, witnessed by the race marshals. The final races then take place in front of crowds of spectators. The race winners (including Eddie Jordan) are congratulated and presented with prizes by club officials and representatives from Taveners, a local sweet manufacturers.

A villege fete takes place in Austwick, north Yorkshire. People walk round stalls selling items such as furniture, books, toys, games, paintings, soap, sweets, crockery and garden plants. At one stall, people serve and eat scones. The fete takes place near the Game Cock Inn, and people cook, serve and eat hotdogs, play darts and other games. There are shots off a sweet stall, children eat icecream and blowing whistles, Austwick post office, a hiker studies a wall map, Austwick's village sign, and people walk down a street.

Families arrive at Howard Street nursery, Burnley, and watch clowns from TheatreMobile perform acrobatics, juggling, and a punch and judy show. The crowd enjoys ice creams, picnics, and games, which include a coconut shy, lucky dip, tombola and treasure hunt. The performers lead the crowd to Accrington Road nursery, as children play instruments. At Accrington Road, families watch an afternoon performance, which includes various pranks and more acrobatics. The voice over discusses the activities, how they were possible, and the reason for the fair.

Footage of the Belmont hotel in Llandudno, a specialist hotel designed for the visually impaired, along with a brief excerpt of an interview with one of the patrons. Footage from Henshaws' School for the Blind in Harrogate, with footage of the schoolchildren playing in a gymnasium, in a home economics class and having a group sing-a-long. Ends with Geoffrey Wheeler making a direct appeal for donations on behalf of the institution.

The Sealed Knot Civil War reenactment society line up opposite each other as they prepare for battle in a park setting. Infantry, cavalry and cannons all take part in the atmospheric battle scenes in front of a large crowd of spectators. The film ends with the victors marching off the battlefield.
