[A COMPILATION OF BRICE FAMILY SCENES]

A compilation of scenes from the Brice family. We see the family playing in the garden and children riding horses at The Jubilee Riding School. The children play on rides at the playground, have fun at the seaside and visit a zoo. At the zoo we see performing sea lions. There are shots of girls dressed in white dresses in the grounds of a church. Children dance around a maypole. We see children playing cops and robbers amongst bales of hay. The family visit a boating lake and watch a Punch and Judy show. There are also shots of a Rag Week procession in Manchester, we see the family watching the parade.
 
 
 
SURGEON'S CLOTHING: THE MICRO-ENVIRONMENT AND AIRBORNE INFECTION

Scientific film from the 1970s which shows how medical operating teams shed skin scales and bacteria into the air during surgery and how this infection hazard can be controlled through the re-designing of garments. The staff of Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow are seen demonstrating the techniques used to assess fabrics for operating room use, whilst a voice over explains what they are doing. Time-lapse and Schlieren photography are used throughout to illustrate the dangers of airborne cross-infection in operating thatres.

An 'It's a knockout' style event takes place in a field, involving a variety of unusual games. There is also a parade with groups of people representing a range of different countries, mascots and cultural stereotypes - John Bull and Britannia, Red Indians, Incas, and African tribesmen all feature. Camping and countryside scenes in Wales follow, including a trip up the Great Orme at Llandudno. Also scenes of 'Carol and Steve's wedding' in 1978.

CRAFTSMEN IN LEATHER

Looking at the work of a saddler's workshop in Darwen, Lancashire. Shots of the busy road running outside the workshop are followed by footage of four of the workers, including a young female apprentice, undertaking different tasks inside. A bridle, some stitching threads and padding, a halter, a plume and a saddle are shown being made or assembled in the workshop as the narrator extols the virtues of the craftsmanship. The film ends with a harness and the saddle being fitted to a draught horse, which is in turn hitched to a bright red cart in preparation for a local carnival. Workmen in the Kellogg's factory followed by frost covered trees and plants on a suburban street. A Christmas party with people eating and drinking followed by snow scenes on a cul-de-sac. Exterior shots of the Parkwater Hotel in Lytham St Annes, people drinking tea in one of the hotel's bedrooms. Window shopping in Lytham followed by underexposed shots of the hotel swimming pool. Views of the beach and an out of season Blackpool with exterior shots of Yates Wine Lodge and the Blackpool Tower. The film ends with more hotel exteriors and birds feeding in a tree.

There are scenes from a family holiday to Spain, we see the family on the beach and visiting local sights. They stay at the Poseidon Hotel, and there are shots in the room and out on the balcony. We also see a camping holiday in Devon, there are scenes from the campsite and beach. A woman in the garden puts out the washing on a very windy day. We also see a 21st birthday celebration, people are seated to eat and later there is dancing, and there are scenes from a wedding where we see the newlyweds as they are showered with confetti outside the church.

A playschool worker outlines some of the advantages of playschools, and the parents of a young boy called Gerald contrast the stresses and frustrations of being cooped up with a restless child, with the relaxation and improvement in the moods of both the parents and the child since Gerald began playschool.

Includes footage on collecting the raw material (minerals, rocks and fossils), of lectures on the subject and of people working on machinery. Also includes scenes from a Gem Fayre at Bury College of Further Education with displays of jewellery, demonstrations and models. The fayre was attended by local MP Frank White and his family who received gifts from the society.

Film of the opening of Batley's Cash and Carry warehouse at the Walton Summit site of the Central Lancashire Development Corporation (now known as English Partnerships). Lawrence Batley, founder of Batley's and Sir Frank Pearson, Chairman of the Central Lancashire Development Corporation, make speeches, the picture occasionally cutting to aerial views of the warehouse. Sir Frank Pearson officially opens the warehouse, he and Mr Batley are seen walking along the aisles, as are the small crowd who attended the opening. A tray of various pickles is presented to a representative of a children's home, pulling a trolley of similar donations.

Film of the commencement of the Farington Link Road by Faircloughs on behalf of the Central Lancashire Development Corporation (now known as English Partnerships). Sir Frank Pearson, Chairman of the Central Lancashire Development Corporation is seen delivering a speech to a small crowd, including members of the press. A British Leyland spokesman also makes a speech, the road will benefit them. Aerial footage of the Leyland Motors plant is seen during part of the speech. The British Leyland representative commences construction by operating a menchanical digger.
