They visit gift shops in the town and go on a trip to Caldey Island. We see them outside the Giltar Hotel. We then see brief scenes from inside a workplace, John McCann & Sons.

At James Brindley Primary School in Walkden, the children, dressed in elaborate costumes, put on a performance in the school hall. On a hot day, the children run around outside: the boys chase footballs round a field, and the girls play with a skipping rope.

Next we have a Gala Day held at Barden School and featuring a bed race and a dog show. The 22nd annual youth band concert is next with various marching bands. Scenes from a funfair are followed by Mr Pearce's model carousel. The Evening Star grand putting tournament is held in a park and we see the teenage winners being handed their trophies. The Lucas company gala and fete is next with various small funfair rides, budgie show and stalls. After a schools its a knockout style competition we have nice footage from and around Turf Moor football ground followed by a carnival parade, school girl volleyball and Highland dancing.

Film showing how the Central Lancashire Development Corporation (now known as English Partnerships) hopes to Orchestrate the development of 55 square miles of Central Lancashire. The film is based on the Outline Plan of the Corporation and deals with development under six headings; housing, employment, education, shopping, recreation and transport. Features aerial footage, maps animation and diagrams as well as footage of many places within the Central Lancashire Development Corporation and some outside, such as Lancashire and Liverpool.
 
 
 
CIDIWHACK; THE LITTLE MAN; SMACK BANG WALLOP; BIG EARS

A compilation of four short amateur dramas. "Cidiwhack" features a boy who falls and injures himself, then applies a magic cream which develops special powers to help him fight off bullies. "The Little Man" features an unlucky girl whose fortunes change after receiving a magic ring given to her by a little man. In "Smack Bang Wallop" different groups of youngsters fight over some recently discovered blueprints. A boy finds and drinks a strange drink, grows enormous ears, gets bullied at school and gets involved in a mass brawl in "Big Ears". TOMORROW'S MERSEYSIDERS

Documentary depicting the work of the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo and the lives of young Merseysiders at a time of transition and change. After early shots inside the busy offices, the film looks at the newspaper production process whilst reflecting on the social effects of Liverpool's slum clearances and the abandonment of older buildings. It highlights constructive youth projects, events and campaigns supported by the paper such as the Liverpool University Settlement and the Echo Challenge Cup for inter-school football. Children ride a miniature steam railway followed by a parade of various steam traction engines and steam powered vehicles.
