A music festival with improvised musical instruments is seen in Chester in 1939, a trip to Chester Zoo and the circus comes to Malpas. St Oswalds' walking day is followed by holiday scenes and footage from the Shrewsbury Show. The makeshift band travel to London to perform on Children's Hour on the BBC, and evacuee children arrive in Malpas at the start of WWII.
