The film opens with scenes from a local event, we see spectators stood near an ice cream van watching a wellington boot throwing competition, and people having a picnic. We then see scenes from a cricket match, and a trophy being presented. We see people bowling, and then there are views of a waterfall. There follow rural scenes. We see men building a dry-stone wall, then there are scenes of cows in field and of a shepherd and his sheepdog herding the sheep. Some young girls play in a lake and there are close up shots of ducks. We then see a religious ceremony, the May Sermons, taking place in a park. Clergymen lead the ceremony which also includes war veterans, the boys Brigade and civic dignitaries. The participants and spectators walk in procession to the war memorial to complete the ceremony and then there is a larger parade with a brass band through the town.
 
 
 
[TANK AND TRANSPORTER AT SPEKE]

We see a tank being carried by road on a transporter lorry until it arrives at a showground where a military display is taking place. There are brief scenes from an air show and then the tank is driven around the field for the spectators before being driven back on to the transporter.
 
 
 
LOWER WITHINGTON ROSE QUEEN FESTIVAL 1984

A girls' dance troupe leads the festival parade followed by a marching brass band, tractors pulling floats and people in fancy dress collecting money for charity. The Rose Queens pass in vintage convertible cars and a woman on horseback leads the parade onto the showground before the coronation of the Rose Queens begins. The children's fancy dress prize giving by the Rose Queen is followed by the decorated bicycles competition, Morris dancing and scenes from inside a marquee.

Scenes from John and James' childhood. We first see John as a new born in the sitting room with his family. We then see him as he gets a little older, in a pram in the garden, being helped to walk, in the park, at a barbecue and on the beach. Next we see James as a new born and then at his first birthday party. There are Christmas scenes. We see the boys hanging up their stockings on Christmas Eve, finding their toys on Christmas Day and the family eating Christmas dinner. We then see the boys in the bath. This is followed by scenes from another Christmas with extended family in the sitting room, people preparing food in the kitchen, and the family eating.

The Pearl Assurance Half Marathon held in March 1986 in Swanley in Kent with shots of the runners at the start and finish line as well as the medals being awarded. The Man City Blue film begins with shots from the Fulham v City match at Craven Cottage followed by match action of the Wimbledon v City at Plough Lane as well as the players arriving at the ground. Next we have Maine Road exteriors with supporters walking to the match, followed by match action and goal from the Man City v Oxford game.
