Alan and Madge are married, but are both having extramarital affairs - Alan with Liz, and Madge with Ted. The two couples almost bump into each other on several occasions whilst conducting clandestine meetings. Alan and Ted meet in the street, and turn out to be old friends, although neither is aware of what the other is up to. They arrange to go out as a foursome, but on arrival, Alan and Madge immediately find out about the other's affair. An almighty row breaks out between them, during which their respective lovers go off together.

A project partnership between WFA and the Northern Consortium of Textile Museums, a group of textile technology museums in the North of England, this film was one of a series designed to preserve textile machinery skills for the future by demonstrating and explaining the use of these old textile machines. To be used in conjunction with specialist training manuals, this film demonstrates the operation of the Cotton Spinning Mule at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester.
