Scenes from Lymm Agricultural Society Show in August 1947, members of the public walk around, men prepare their horses before taking part in the show jumping event. Tom Taylor of Stockton Heath is featured riding both Jorrocks and Leicester Lad. Tom Taylor can later be seen competing in the Warrington Horse Society Show in June 1947. Prizes and trophies are then presented to the winners.

Footage of schoolboys' sports day events at Old Hall School. The film begins with hurdles and relay races and cups and certificates are distributed. A large group of schoolboys march in file and take part in group exercise routines; after a brief shot of the Brickhill family enjoying a roadside picnic, we see the boys again in an egg and spoon race and doing more exercise routines.

PEOPLES THEATRE

A behind the scenes look at a production staged by the Oldham Repertory Theatre Club at The Coliseum, opening with views of an industrial skyline and exterior shots of the Theatre Royal and local cinemas. There is a brief history of the Club and we see new scripts being vetted and sets being designed. Members are shown buying tickets at the box office and preparing refreshments. Concludes with a full dress rehersal, followed by a live performance and an enthusiastic curtain call.
 
 
 
POWER FOR LOCOMOTIVES

A film about the use of Crossley engines in locomotives, with a history of railway propulsion and a description of the Crossley firm's development of increasingly powerful engines for trains. There are shots of Crossley's factory complex in Openshaw, footage of an engine being produced, and the film ends with shots of a shunting engine in action.

The design and production of a stained glass window at Shrigley and Hunt Ltd in Lancaster. A window is designed and drawn out on paper. Individual glass shapes are cut to size, painted and fired in a kiln. The glass shapes are placed on plate glass and joined together to allow further painting. There are shots of the finished glass being 'leaded' together and the joints of the lead being soldered to complete the window. The film ends with shots of stained glass windows in a church. The opening of a new building at a Burnley gasworks. The mayor makes a speech in front of an invited audience which includes local MP Wilfrid Burke, before another man unveils a plaque.
