Film of Bolton School in 1951. The whole spectrum of school events is featured. An opening sequence features staff and pupils gathering for an assembly inter-cut with shots of a clock. A variety of lessons are featured including sciences, geography, woodwork, music and art. Pupils are seen having lunch, taking exams, surveying and searching for wildlife. There is footage of the sports undertaken at Bolton School; cricket, swimming , football, gymnastics and PE all feature. Extra curricular activities such as bee keeping, art and pond life exhibitions and model aircraft flying are seen. There is footage of the Philharmonic Society listening to records and pupils are seen assembling and operating puppets in a play. Events such as Sports Day, a School Play, a performance by the school orchestra and a camp at Ullswater feature. Peter Baden Powell (son of the founder of the scouting movement) opening the school's new scout headquarters at Woodlands. The film closes with presentations being made at speech day and a mass PT display.

Manchester Wheelers Club goes to France on the ferry "Lord Warden - London." Club members drink tea from the back of their van and join the crowds watching the cycle race. The winner signs autographs for the crowd. Also seen are world championship cycle track races "Championnat du Monde", including motorcycles bringing the racers up to speed. The winners are seen with bouquets at the finish.
 
 
 
[FESTIVAL OF BRITAIN, 1951]

Brief views of people arriving at Northwich station before travelling to London to visit the Festival of Britain. Views of Trafalgar Square and people feeding the pigeons. Then views of the Festival site, the various pavillions and exhibits, as well as the Royal Festival Hall. A lot of the film is shot from a high vantage point, overlooking the whole Festival park. The film ends with views of the neon advertising in Piccadilly Circus at night.

Visit of King George VI, Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret to Preston on 11 April 1951. The crowds are seen lining the streets, and the motorcade drives past on it's way to the Town Hall. The Sykes family are seen leaving the house and at Graham Sykes' Christening in Lytham St Anne's. The family have a picnic in the Lake District, and a group of children are seen playing Ring O' Roses in the garden of the family's home. On holiday in the Lake District, the family are seen in the Langdale Valley around Hawkshead and Windermere, walking, having a picnic by a river and swimming in a lake.

Mr and Mrs Eric Hagon are seen in Malta, where Eric was stationed with the navy. General views of streets and the harbour, are followed by scenes of a carnival procession passing through the town. Brief scenes of football and hockey matches, and Mr and Mrs Hagon are seen in the garden at home, looking at ships in the harbour, walking in the park and on the beach with Mrs Hagon's parents.

[KETTLESHULME AND ABERYSTWYTH 1951]

Four lads are seen out and about in the countryside around Kettleshulme in Cheshire - camping, hill-walking and rock climbing. Salford Lads' Club boys are seen arriving at London Road Station in Manchester to go to camp in Aberystwyth in May 1951. On arrival, they are seen presenting themselves for inspection, cooking and eating dinner in the mess tent, and washing the pots and themselves afterwards. Footage of the various races during sports day and of a local football match is followed by a visit to the river to go swimming. The lads are seen packing up on the last day and heading to the station where the group leaders are seen singing "Auld Lang Syne" before they leave.
 
 
 
LAKE DISTRICT HOLIDAY

The girls of Grange Park School, St Helens prepare for their holiday. They are shown maps by Miss Jennings, receive and return permission letters, paint maps and make booklets. Their kit is inspected and they leave by bus, waved off by parents. A refreshment stop at the Kopper Kettle on the journey, before arriving at Wayfarers Lodge, Langdale Estate, Great Langdale. They walk around the estate and into Elterwater village, take a walk to Grasmere and Wordsworth's Cottage, on to Rydal Mount and Loughrigg Terrace, ending at Langdale Church.
