Scenes from the Grimsargh Field Day. We see the procession which includes the Rose Queen, floats, people in fancy dress, a dance troupe and a marching band. Some of the people in fancy dress hold banners with messages about nurses' pay and inflation. At the carnival the vicar presents a man to the spectators, and the man is then presented with a flower for his button hole. We see maypole dancing and scenes from the garden fete that follows the procession.

Record of holidays and days out taken by the Sarson family in the early 1970s. Opens with a fancy dress parade at Six Arches Caravan Park in Scorton near Lancaster, donkey rides at Blackpool and paddling at Alexandra Park in Oldham. The family visit Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Stanley Park, and swim at the outdoor pool in Morecambe. Brownies attend a Manchester Police Horse display before visiting Pets Corner at Platt Fields in Rusholme. Also includes trips on the Ravenglass and Eskdale / Lakeside and Haverthwaite railways and a view of Princes Street in Edinburgh from the castle. Children and adults are seen posing for the camera around a birthday cake. It appears to be Steven's birthday; he is smartly dressed in bright red shirt and flowery tie. We then cut to outdoor scenes of dolphins and seals performing tricks at a zoo - balancing balls on their noses and wearing sombreros.
 
 
 
RYAN'S VIEW

After shots of a tree, Raymond Ryan and his wife drive their Volkswagen in Silecroft, Cumbria, and play golf. Vintage cars are on display. Raymond saws, sands and files a wooden car body at his work bench. Men help transport this, an old MG car is dismantled and this new body afixed. Raymond carves a sign for Chief Executive of Burnley, Brian Whittle. A programme advises the, "Civic Trusts Award 1972," and Raymond is included for his work on the interior of a new craft museum at Towneley Hall. Raymond tours round the museum. There are shots with his wife at home, preparing for a trip, driving at Silecroft, and a lone tree.

The background to, design and construction of, and official opening of the William Thompson Recreation Centre in Burnley, made possible by a local philanthropist's donation. Includes scenes of office and building work, the foundation stone being laid by Walter Winterbottom CBE, the official opening with dignitaries in 1974, and the new Centre in use by the public.

There are exterior views of Richard Thompson's hi-fi shop in Altrincham, and various derelict railway sites are seen, as well as trams at the museum in Crich.

Scenes in the Goyt Valley area of the Peak District, the Doyle family visit an information centre caravan, take a hillside walk and are seen driving around in a mini bus. Includes shots of boats sailing on Fernilee Reservoir. Continues with Doyle sons, Robb and Ian, taking a trip to Stockport Market with a shopping basket. They are seen leaving home, then buying a number of items, including flowers and fruit from the stalls, stopping at a refreshment stand for tea and cakes, and heading to the car. Includes good shots of general market scenes and a brief sequence showing a male street entertainer.
