After being told off by a policeman, three schoolchildren are set the task by their teacher of finding out a bit more about the town that they live in. They look at the course of the Glossop Brook through the town, some of the parks and leisure activities available and some of the surrounding towns and countryside. There are scenes of the town's industries - such as paper and brush-making - and the film looks at Glossop's local government. A new mayor is sworn in, and a procession passes through the town to mark the occassion. | |||

A selection of drama sketches by the boys in class 1 at the Major Lester CP School in Liverpool. Several short stories are shown which usually involves the boys dressing up as pirates and cowboys and indians, as well as playing various different sports. The first sketch shows a boy being sent off from a football match, with his team going on to win a trophy. The boy then steals the trophy from the headmasters office, and is eventually caught and reprimanded. The next story involves the boys day-dreaming about pirates, with the following sketch showing a boy cheating to win a boxing match and the prize money, only for his deception to be discovered in the end. The fourth story shows a jealous classmate stealing the pen from another boy, only to be chased and finally pushed in the lake with the pen being retrieved. Following that is a story of a child in the class who cannot win at any sporting competitions, but beats all of his fellow classmates in a pie-eating competition. Finally, the last story shows the boys playing at cowboys and indians. | |||

We then see her being fed in her high chair by her mother, the table is set for dinner behind them. The extended family then sit down for a meal. They have plates of bacon and tomato, and little bowls of fruit salad. They distribute cups of tea. We next see Anne as a toddler playing in the park.
