| A film celebrating 100 years of Burnley begins with a look at the town, it's industries, both old and new, it's schools and hospitals. Next we have the old bus station and market hall followed by Burnley's recreational facilities and parks. In the second half of this film we have the actual centenary celebrations beginning with the crowning of the Centenary Queen, with Jimmy Savile amongst the judges, then we have scenes from Mayor's Sunday, a procession through the town to the parish church. After a theatrical production in Townley Park and the unveiling of the Centenary Fountain we have the carnival parade and display teams at the show ground. Various exhibitions are held during the year, these include the police, a flower show and in the library an art exhibition. The film ends with the Centenary Civic Ball at the New Empress Ballroom. | |||

We also see fishing and lambing, and a dog fetching a dead rabbit for his owner. There is a trip to Belgium, we see the the Atomium in passing and scenes of a visit to a Belgian farm to observe their practices. We also see a family visit to Stratford-upon-Avon, the family stay in the Alveston Manor Hotel and visit Anne Hathaway's Cottage. There are fairground scenes, a procession, a wedding, ice-skating, a football match and children play in a park. We see people in a swimming pool in the back garden and also scenes of a removal company, Heatons of St. Helens, moving furniture from a house. Prince Philip arrives in a helicopter and opens a college on 5th July 1962. We see a group of children on a trip, they depart from Liverpool Docks on a ferry named 'Uganda' and they wave to their families as the boats departs. There are also various social scenes.
