The Sealed Knot's English Civil War re-enactment of the Battle of Furness with a commentary explaining the battle to the watching crowds. Stall holders in historical costumes selling goods at the Dalton Market centenary historic fair. A town crier reads out a proclamation to open the fair then a brass band plays, children dance around a maypole and enjoy rides on a bicycle powered merry-go-round. The film ends with views of Furness Abbey and exhibits in the museum.

Film of the demolition of two cooling chimneys at Courtaulds in Red Scar near Preston. The chimneys are seen intact, a crowd gathers in a car park. Continues with shots of a man raising a red flag and a close-up of a detonator. The explosion and demolition is seen from two angles. The second explosion also features before shots of the crowd leaving and rubble at the blast site. People are seen dismantling protective barriers between the chimney and the road. The film closes with a shot of a Leeds demolition Co. van.

Film of the official opening of the British Commercial Vehicle Museum of England at Leyland. Prince Michael of Kent performs the opening. There are shots of the museum prior to the Princes visit, exhibits are seen as are crowds of museum officials and the public. The prince's car arrives with a police escort - he greets various museum officials before entering the museum followed by press and photographers. The Prince tours the museum - he is seen being driven down a road aboard a traction engine and a truck, as crowds of children frantically wave flags. People are seen taking refreshments inside the museum before the opening ceremony - which consists of the Prince delivering a speech and unveiling a plaque. The film closes with shots of the Prince being driven off as crowds wave, and of the exterior of the museum.

There are views of the town centre and shops, and local resident George Nicol explains why he chose to move to Stockport 40 years ago. St Mary's Parish church is featured, as well as footage of the Mayoral Sunday procession through the town. An open day at Daw Bank bus depot is followed by scenes at the annual taxi drivers' charity pram race.
