Kay Phillips takes Tom from the Blackjack Brewery to see the bees in Harpurhey then Tom explains the beer making process and the hops that are to be used to make the honey beer Next we visit the hives at Baytrees and discover the queen bee then in a kitchen the honey is extracted by a couple from the Reasons to be Cheerful Cafe. As part of the Brew Wild project the first batch of honey pale ale is brewed at the Red Willow Brewery in Macclesfield. The various types of malt is added to the mash tub then the honey from Harpurhey, Heaton Park, Salford, Wythenshawe, Manchester and Longford Park is mixed then added to the beer. Hops and marjoram are added to the copper before being put into another container to brew for 10-12 days. | |||
