The Beekeepers Kay Phillips, Richard Searle and John Mouncy discuss the Brew Wild Project in the grounds of Manchester Art Gallery. Next we see the planting of marjoram at the gallery and the planting and sowing of yarrow at Prestwich and Harpurhey. The first batch of the beer is given the taste test, then honey is collected from Jack Hobbs at Kersal Vale in Salford and Adrian Rhodes at Manchester Cathedral before being added to the beer at the Red Willow Brewery in Macclesfield.
 
 
 
SOME BEES, A BREWERY AND THE STORY OF THE SMOKED BRAGGOT

At the Runaway Brewery Bar in Manchester for the launch night of the smoked braggot beer, we have short talks from John Mouncy about the Brew Wild Project and its future and Richard Searle on the project and his beekeeping. The head brewer Mark Welsby gives a speech on how the braggot, described as a half beer, half honey wine is made using smoked grain and a hybrid yeast.

A beautifully shot, leisurely paced film which blends a look at the traditional pastime of fishing for Arctic char in the waters of Lake Windermere with an important and topical environmental message. Fisherman Dr Peter Haslam goes out on the lake to show how to catch this rare fish, and the film also considers external factors such as global warming and chemical pollution and how these have affected the water and the char population. Potter Martin Miles-Moore demonstrates how to make a traditional char pot, and Michelin star chef Kevin Tickle prepares and serves up the fish at the Forest Side restaurant in Grasmere.

A short film about death, as this film opens we hear a poem being recited while we see shots of moving scenery filmed from a car window. We then hear from various people about their thoughts on death, and their own personal experiences with death. Kate Brennan talks about her work as a birth doula, her thoughts on death and the death of her grandmother. We also hear from Keely, Press Officer and Tom Cowley, Burial Groundsman at Greenacres Woodland Burials in Rainford about the services they provide. At the Death Cafe we hear from Trish McDonald, Dr. Ann-Marie Golden and Ellie about their reasons for attending the cafe.

A short student documentary on the redevelopment of the Britannia Basin area of Manchester, with voice overs from concerned residents about the lack of facilities and green spaces for the thousands of new flats that are being built in the area. A BIT OF THIS AND A BIT OF THAT

This short documentary features the takeaway restaurant This and That in Manchester city centre. The proprietor Ismail Mallu, who runs the Northern Quarter café with his son Mohsin, talks about his roots and introduction to cooking, the variety and diversity of food from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, and how British tastes in curry have evolved over the years. He also describes how This and That was established, becoming a highly popular venue with a wide and enthusiastic clientele, and there are shots of meals being prepared and served. Several customers talk about their love of the café and note how it has also provided help and support for the wider community, for example on the night of the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017.
 
 
 
OUR EMMELINE

A record of the creation, construction, installation and unveiling of the bronze statue of Emmeline Pankhurst in St Peter’s Square, Manchester. Councillor Andrew Simcock relates the history of the project, while sculptor Hazel Reeves welcomes a group from Manchester to her Brighton studio to see her work in progress, and talks about her collaboration with life model Sarah Jenkins. There are scenes in the foundry where the statue is cast, and ground preparation work in St Peter’s Square, followed by the opening of the meeting circle on 15th July 2018. Finally, the grand unveiling of the Pankhurst statue takes place on 14th December, with processions arriving from around the city, Manchester Community Choir performing, and speakers Naga Munchetty and Helen Pankhurst, great-granddaughter of the Suffragette.
