[MASONIC TRIP TO SCARBOROUGH 1932]

A short film depicting a Masonic trip from Burnley to Scarborough where the group can be seen strolling through the streets and visiting the Masonic Lodge before making their way down to the sea front past the Grand Hotel. Here, they take off their shoes and socks to paddle, splash and dance in the water, before watching an unusual ventriloquist performance on the beach. There are also sweeping shots of the Scarborough sea front. The group then make their way to Peasholm Park where they enjoy afternoon tea and strolling through the gardens in front of the iconic pagoda cascade, and then head back to Scarborough station. The reel ends with a brief shot of a girl in a street, location unknown.
 
 
 
[MASONIC EVENT AT ORMEROD HALL 1932]

This short film depicts a Masonic family day event being held at Ormerod Hall in Burnley. The film shows a range of different contemporary entertainments, including golf, live comedy, piano playing, and a small orchestra playing (which a small girl intensely scrutinises). There is also an interesting game (similar to a piñata) which participants are blindfolded and attempt to strike a hanging object with a stick. There is also afternoon tea on the lawn for the group, and many of the attendants engage with the camera, making faces and smiling towards it.

A large construction site in the USSR with many cranes over what look like factory buildings and a mechanical excavater digging a trench. Scenic views of cliffs and hillsides followed a family in the gardens of a large house with a man sat on a statue of a lion with a camera. On board a ferry with passengers lying on the deck and the captain on the bridge.

Two women with suitcases bound for the USSR board a ship on London docks near Tower Bridge. In Moscow, an underexposed march with banners followed by streetscenes with children leaving a school. After views of a steam train, a horse and carriage and a church we take a phantom ride on a tram. Boats on a river, more streetscenes and views from a train passing through the countryside

The second part of H W Taylor's tour of the USSR begins with a look at the footwear of the Russian people then scenes on board a ship on the river Volga. In Kazan we have street scenes at a railway station and views from a train including a park of culture. Sleeping passengers on the deck of a ship on the Volga followed by views of Khvalinsk and Samara. After views of the wooden houses of the German settlement in Saratov we visit the docks at Stalingrad. Camels in Rostov and people swimming in the Volga followed by street scenes in Leningrad.

A train coming into Shendi station followed by locals bathing in a river. Members of the Egyptian army clambouring onto lorries and doing a drill with numbered cars. A boat trip is followed by scenes from Cairo Zoo with giraffes, deer, zebras and a hippo. Views of the Nile and Mr and Mrs Riding on a camel and donkey near the pyramids followed by picnics in the desert. The Egyptian army, cavalry and air force march and fly past in formation. Two women visit the pyramids and drink bottled water followed by a baby in a pram and flamingoes and boats on the river Nile.
