Biplanes are seen at Southport, and the family visit the Pleasure Beach. Mary Fleming is seen in the kitchen at home, and John is seen in the garden with his toys, playing with a model boat in a pool and on the dodgems with his father.

Gently amusing film, written by W G Oakes, about the different activities of a group of friends on August Bank Holiday. Two go fishing, four go for a country walk and another group go for a picnic - after several mishaps, including being chased by a farmer, and one of the group falling into a river, they all end up back at home safely, although the two fishermen are a bit worse for wear after spending a large portion of their day in different pubs on the way home. Locations include Middlewich and Tarporley Stations, suburban houses and the countryside around Beeston Castle.

Film of the wedding of William George Oakes and Winifred Roberts at the Parish Church in Middlewich, 21st May 1938. The guests are seen arriving at the church, as is the bride and her father. The couple are seen leaving the church and being covered in confetti, before proceeding to a garden on King Street, where the wedding party pose for the camera and watch the cutting of the cake.

SALFORD LADS' CLUB - ABERYSTWYTH 1938

Salford Lads' Club boys are seen arriving at London Road Station in Manchester to go to camp in Aberystwyth. They are all seen having dinner in the mess tent, and washing up afterwards. The lads go swimming in the nearby river and are seem queuing up for their pocket money back at camp. There is a coach trip to Devil's Bridge and some waterfalls, and some of the lads watch a farmer shearing a sheep. Another meal is seen, and there is footage of the various races during the sports day and of a visit to the beach. The film ends with the boys packing up on the last day.

A group from the office of D H Henriques Brokers on Pall Mall, Manchester enjoy a day out in Derbyshire. They have a picnic, the women wash the crockery in a river, a man plays the harmonica, and they go to see a well dressing. The film ends with two women applying make-up as a photographer sets up a cine camera on a tripod. [Catalogued as part of 'Revitalising the Regions' - a Screen Heritage UK project, 2011]

Compilation reel begins with views of the Lake District taken from moving car. A pleasure boat leaves Bowness-on-Windermere. Groups of men and girls fool around on an outing, and people walk along Morecambe seafront. Footage of a whit walk in Burnley is followed by a school trip to Holland, featuring the voyage by steamship, arrival at Rotterdam and visits to The Hague, Volendam and the Isle of Marken. [FOUNDATION STONE AND ARCHBISHOP OF LIVERPOOL AT ST PETER AND ST PAUL R. C CHURCH, ST HELENS]

A crowd waits at the unfinished St Peter and Paul RC church in Haresfinch, St Helens. The Archbishop Downey, of Liverpool, ascends some steps at the site, attended by clergymen. It is a windy day, the Archbishop performs a blessing, and leaves . The crowd disperses, there are shots of the foundation stone laid by the Archbishop, and of the church's unfinished exterior. Groups stand and talk, there are houses in the back drop, clergymen walk by.

Film promoting new housing provision in Liverpool, presented by the city's architect, Mr L.H. Keay. After looking at the city's current and proposed 'slum clearance' programme, the film looks at examples of new housing being built, including flats at Gerard Gardens, and the big new housing estate at Speke. Shows the new facilities inside and outside the homes, and Mrs Greaves, a tenant, explains how much easier her life is now.

Scenes from Salford 72nd Boys' Brigade holiday to Switzerland. The boys are seen on top of a mountain enjoying the views and also walking down again. The mayor and other civic dignitaries are seen arriving at the town hall prior to King George VI and Queen Elizabeth's visit to Salford. On arrival, they are greeted by Edward Stanley, the 17th Earl of Derby. This event was part of a larger tour of Lancashire in May 1938.

Footage of St. Thomas' Church, Eccleston's second Rose Queen Carnival. Footage of the parade including Morris dancing children, the Sunday school, marching bands and brass bands and floats. Colour footage of the windy crowning ceremony officiated by Mrs Gresford Jones as retiring rose queen Miss May Dingsdale hands over to Miss Joan Bedson. This is followed by the Sunday School Field Day with dancing performances watched by local dignitaries, a May Pole, games, and posing for the camera.
