The film features a pair of twins throughout; as babies dressed for christening and then later as toddlers. The Griffiths family set off on a holiday to Chester and are seen being greeted by Uncle Percy and his family. They all visit Chester Zoo. The two mothers go to Liverpool for the day and the dads and children stay home doing the chores! They also visit the beach at Talacre and Gronant, North Wales. Lots of footage of Pat and Peter Griffiths in the garden at home in Blackburn. Baby David arrives and there is lots more footage of them all in various places. Another trip to the zoo ends the film.

Footage of the Brickhills at the elder Brickhills' home: Bewdley, Alderley Edge and on holiday in Prestatyn, 1940. The film begins with brief scenes of the the Brickhills (Mr and Mrs, young David and grandparents) in the garden; we see a kitten and a croquet game played on the lawn. Then we see the family on holiday at the beach; the children climb the sand dunes then David pushes a train stroller in the garden. There are also shots of kitchen interiors and David riding a tricycle in the garden. The film ends with the Brickhills sat in front of some beach huts, enjoying pony rides on the beach and David running around the garden.

Film featuring a wartime procession in Dukinfield, involving a wide variety of groups of diverse ages, some military, some civilian and some religious. Many carry banners and flags. Intercut with this is; footage of children in a street with some adults, scenes at the seaside and some fires at night. There is also footage of a family game of cricket in a park, children racing and scenes from Stamford Park, Ashton-under-Lyne, including boats and a bowling green. In addition there are shots from Belle Vue amusement park and zoo. The film closes with further shots of the procession in front of Dukinfield town hall.
