THE WEDDING OF MARILYN AND ALLEN

The opening titles introduce the film as 'The Wedding of Marilyn and Allen', 'At South Manchester Synagogue March 10 1968.' Marilyn is woken at home by her mother with breakfast in bed, she then walks downstairs in her wedding dress. She is joined by more family members and bridesmaids and then has group photographs taken in the living room. Next we see Marilyn, followed by the wedding party and guests, arriving at the Synagogue. We see scenes from the wedding service and there follow scenes from the reception. The bride and groom are introduced, and are applauded by their guests. Speeches are made and the wedding cake is cut. The film ends with the bride and groom leading the dancing before being joined by the rest of their guests on the dance floor.
 
 
 
[JEFF AND DENISE'S ENGAGEMENT]

The film opens with shots of the Big Top from Billy Smart's Circus. We then see a circus parade, performers ride on elephants down the high street. There follow scenes of guests seated at an engagement party, they eat and are served with tea. There are then shots of them leaving the event.

After their encounter with the wild man the hunter projects his film to his distinguished guests, the film features the wild man but also the hunter running away!
 
 
 
IT HAPPENED TO US

This short documentary film begins up in the hills with the aftermath of a flood on a village and the cleaning up work that is undertaken by the villagers, clearing debris from the river and shoring up damaged homes. The river level is now lower and the full extent of the flood damage can be seen on the entire length of the river from the hills into the town of Burnley. The fire and the auxiliary fire brigade is called on to help with the clean up and can be seen pumping flood water out of homes and businesses.

1968 LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP

The final game of 1967-68 season between Newcastle United and Manchester City at St. James' Park on 11 May 1968, with City winning 4-3 and being crowned the 1st Division champions. We see match action and all of the goals scored by Summerbee, Young (2) and Lee for City and Robson, Sinclair and McNamee for Newcastle. The film ends with the crowd of spectators including an estimated 20,000 City fans invading the pitch to celebrate with the players.
 
 
 
ROYAL VISIT 1968

The visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Burnley in 1968 and the preceding 'Operation Springclean' - the cleaning of the town's buildings and gardens. Wood is collected to build a bonfire and the dirty buildings are sand blasted.
 
 
 
[TRANSPORT FOR POWER]

This film looks at the development of road transport for the movement of large equipment for the power generating industry. New transporter trailers are seen under construction and an air cushion equipment system is demonstrated. The construction and launch of two ships (Aberthaw Fisher and Kingsnorth Fisher) which were specially built to transport large road borne loads. We later see the ships docked at Pomona and the unique method used to load equipment onto the ships. Aboard the ship on it's journey we see shots of Liverpool in the distance. Once the ship has docked at Barry the equipment is offloaded and taken to the new power station site. The sister ship, the Kingsnorth Fisher, carried her first load from Pomona dock to Kingsnorth Fisher where a special jetty was built. This allowed the load to be driven off the ship straight into the power station. The film concludes by stating why they feel the only way the growing demand for power can be met is to build more power stations.

[SUMMER CAMP; BASSENTHWAITE]

Leaders and members of the 1st Stretford Scout Group prepare to set off to their summer camp in Bassenthwaite Lake. During the journey we see shots of the M6 and of Ambleside. When they arrive, scouts get off the coach and set up camp by Bassenthwaite Lake. At the campsite they prepare, cook, serve and eat food. Two boys can be seen cutting some firewood followed by a camp inspection and later raise the flag. The leader hands out pocket money to the scouts. We see Honister Pass filmed from a moving car as well as scouts hiking, some scouts can be seen posting letters in a post box. Back at the campsite the scouts play cricket and later go canoeing. They camp up the camp and head home.
