The film begins with shots of boats on the lake and the boating shed followed by the museum's restored paddle boat 'Mary Anne' from 1870 exhibited outdoors. We then see interior shots of men working on the White Lady II restoration in the warehouse; it is then wheeled out to the water and successfully driven by men in lifejackets at high speed. Scenic wide shots of the boat on the lake and landscape are shown along with surrounding steam, sail and speedboats. A crowd watches the boat from the pier and people are shown having boat rides on various vessels on the lake. | |||

A promotional film from Hilden Mill in Oswaldtwistle, this is a film made to demonstrate the wide range of textiles made at the mill, the high quality of the textiles and the efficiency with which the mill operates. We are shown the wide range of uses of the textiles, and we are told about their many different types of customers including the hospitality industry, airlines, hospitals and department stores. Their customers include some well known brands. We also learn about the extensive customer service and aftercare the mill provides. Inside the mill we see the stages involved in the production of the cloth from beginning to finished product, and how the production is more efficient thanks to new technology such as computers and fax machines. We see people at work in different settings in the mill including the offices and laboratories. | |||

Forklift's move produce from dockside to the warehouses. Inside the control room we see a man switching lights on a wall mounted display board. Conveyor belts move sand from the ship to lorries and trains move containers around the Port of Liverpool. A dredger at work on the river Mersey then we see inside the control tower while pipes are loaded onto a ship. The film is intercut with interviews with members of the Port of Liverpool management. | |||
