Various activities and events attended by pupils of Lymm Grammar School; 1950-52. Includes a visit to London, for the 1951 Festival of Britain and a school holiday to Brunmen in Switzerland. Staff and pupils are also seen filing out of a church, after celebrating 50 years of co-education on the special Founders' Day and a large group of school boys are seen competing in a cross country race. Also features close up shots of the girls hockey team, who won the 1950-51 Manchester Schools Challenge Shield; school governors for the year 1951-52; and members of the sixth form and staff.

Brief scenes in a park and a zoo are followed by footage of Lynne Collin's birthday party, with school friends arriving at her house. Scenes of children playing on snow-covered streets, and Lynne tries her new bike on Christmas Day 1950. The film ends with footage of a Whit Walk and scenes from Jim and Myra's Golden Wedding - with kids dancing and Jim and Myra enjoying a celebratory drink.

Pupils are seen arriving at Cale Green Primary School with bundles of newspaper and empty jam jars during the school's salvage drive in 1950. There are scenes from the 1951 'bring and buy' sale with various stalls and games including quoits, magnetic fishing and 'Guess the Weight.' In 1952, there is a school camping trip to Skerries in Ireland and the girl's teams are seen competing in the netball quarter-finals and rounders semi-finals.
 
 
 
PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN THE PRIMARY SCHOOL

Children at a Blackburn primary school perform physical exercises in their school playground and play informal games. After footage of children playing on a wall, a child swinging on a lamppost, and a busy school playground scene at playtime, the film cuts to children dressed in their whites for a PE lesson. Children perform forward rolls, jumps, handstands, leapfrogs and other bends and stretches, sometimes in pairs. The film ends with children doing handstands and playing cricket in a cobbled street. A policeman directs traffic before the elephants make their way towards the site of the circus where a sign is being hung from a tent. After a title/caption 'Ward/Wormwell August 30th 1952', the final section of the film (last two minutes) has a severe camera / shutter fault. Baby Marion is seen with other family members in a park, at her christening, playing with children and a dog, at the beach and at her 1st Birthday Party. In other scenes, children play rounders in a field of long grass and brownies return from a coach trip. The final section in colour sees Marion on a swing and children playing football in a field in Ulverston, before the film ends with family scenes in Newsham Park in Liverpool. Southfield Park horse show is shown, and the Collins are seen on holidays and trips to Blackpool, the Lake District and the Isle of Man. The film concludes with scenes from the Coronation Sports and Gala at Failsworth Lodge in 1953.
