A brief history of Vickers' shipyard in Barrow is followed by men at work on different components of the Invincible, the sixth ship to bear this name, as well as shots in the design offices. On a very wet day, large crowds of local people come to see Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. The ship is launched, there is a brief air display and the Queen tours the ship yard meeting staff and watches an artillery display.

Leaders and members of the 1st Stretford Scout Group travel down a canal, a power station can be seen briefly. They pass by swans and their cygnets and later go through a canal lock. They also pass over a canal aqueduct and later pass through Rochdale Canal Dale St lock. They travel through the canal route in and around the city centre. The film cuts to beautiful rural views and the scouts go kayaking. The film ends with the scouts and leaders standing on the bank drinking tea.

The film opens with winter scenes. We see a man and some children sledging and they build a big snowman. There are then brief shots of donkey rides on the beach, a family out and about in the Lake District, children on a fairground ride and people abseiling. We then see scenes from the Carlisle Silver Jubilee Parade. There are veteran cars, marching bands and brass bands, floats, brownies and girl guides and people in fancy and historical dress. The parade arrives at the carnival field at Carlisle Castle where there is a display of veteran cars followed by a display of men dressed as Roman soldiers riding horse drawn chariots. There is also a display of falconry and a parachute display. There is an air balloon and camels too. There are brief scenes from Caroline's Christening, the family and guests pose for photos. The film ends with more scenes of a family trip to the Lake District.

The Over Peover Jubilee celebrations begins with children erecting tents and inflating beds on a campsite. Events are held throughout the day these include children's country dancing, knobbly knees competition and children's running races. A fortune teller reads the cards while in the village hall the cake and flower arrangement competitions are held before the villagers enjoy refreshments of tea and sandwiches. After more dancing and egg and spoon races there is a barbecue with sausages and burgers. There are various stalls such as a crockery shy, ten pin bowling, darts and hoopla to help raise funds. The film ends with the children eating, singing and dancing around the bonfire.

BOLLINGTON SILVER JUBILEE JOUSTABOUT

Scenes from the Bollington Silver Jubilee Joustabout. We see people preparing for the event that takes place on the cricket pitch,they are busy building sets. We then see the event itself which takes place on a rainy day. People wander around, and buy drinks, ice creams and candy floss and the Bollington Brass Band provide the music. The proceedings begin with a performance by the Bollington Majorettes, then we see jousting with pantomime horses and a 'knockout' type event with obstacle courses and games. The Mayor then presents a trophy to the winning team.
 
 
 
BOLLINGTON SILVER JUBILEE CARNIVAL

Scenes from the Bollington Silver Jubilee Carnival. The film opens with scenes of the Silver Jubilee decorations on Ovenhouse Lane. We then see a parade pass through the street led by the Bollington Majorettes and the Bollington Brass Band. We see lots of shots of the spectators and the filmmaker identifies people he knows in his voiceover. The Mayor and Mayoress and the Festival Queen pass by and we see floats, amongst them floats from the Girl Guides, the Macclesfield Band, the Bollington Art Group, G&V Clarkson Grocers and the White Nancy Mountain Rescue Team. The Macclesfield Riding Club bring up the rear. We see spectators with drinks outside the Spinners pub and outside the Dog and Partridge pub. The parade proceeds along Palmerston Street and down Adlington Road on to the carnival field at the local cricket ground. People mill around the carnival field, drinking and buying ice creams. We see a fancy dress pram race and a demonstration from the army cadets. At the end of the day we see the joustabout sets being dismantled. The film ends with royal footage filmed from the television.
 
 
 
THE LIFE AND OPINIONS OF JEREMY BENTHAM

This is an amateur film funded by the North West Arts Association. It is a film about the British philosopher and political radical, Jeremy Bentham. It features interviews with experts on his work and Jeremy Bentham's opinions and philosophy form part of the narration of the film. We hear extracts from Benthams's works, 'An Introduction to the Principles of Morals and Legislation' and 'Theory of Fictions'. The interview at the heart of the film takes place outside University College London, the university features heavily in the film.
