EYE ON OUR PUPILS

Scenes of school life at Ardwick Technical High School showing pupils and teachers arriving at school and during lessons, which include typing, cookery, sewing, science and Physical Education. Students gather for morning assembly, teachers are seen during break-time in the staff room and pupils have meals in the school canteen. Continues with further classes in art, pottery and technical drawing, with boys doing metalwork and woodwork. Students attend after-school clubs in Spanish, photography and chess. Pupils are seen playing football, hockey and netball - some sports sequences are speeded up and in slow motion. Concludes with a school swimming gala at Victoria Baths and a sports day.
 
 
 
[BOLTON SCHOOL TRIP TO SWEDEN]

Boys from Bolton School on a camping holiday in Sweden. It begins with the boys eating sandwiches on board a ship followed by camping scenes with the boys eating and playing football. Cross country race scenes with the runners at the finish line. The boys taking photos in a large house overlooking the sea then a military marching band and soldiers in the town square. Zoo scenes followed by the boys boarding a ship and views of the fjords as they sunbathe and eat. Dockside scenes and the film ends with views of a wooden church.
 
 
 
RETIREMENT, COUNCILLOR CHARLES B HOPKINSON; THE WHIT WALKS 1965/1966

In 1966 after nearly 30 years' service councillor Charles B Hopkinson retires from the council with scenes of his retirement party at the local Conservative club. We also see the councillor on the close that bears his name and out and about in Saddleworth speaking with his friends. The 1965 Whit walk begins with the Saddleworth church marching with bannners on the way to Uppermill, where a religious service is held on a playing field. After parading back to their church the group have children's races and the men play football. Another Whit walk in 1966 with children carrying baskets of flowers before congregating with other churches for a religious service. After the service the children race against each other and play cricket.
 
 
 
[WEDDINGS; HORSES; WHIT WALKS]

A newlywed couple exit the church and pose for photographs. The wedding guests throw confetti on the happy couple as they make their way to their wedding car. Scenes from another wedding show the Bride arriving to the church and is greeted by her Father. Later the bride and groom exit the church and have photographs taken. In the next scenes we see some men and boys on horses in a stable yard. Patricia shows some very young puppies to the camera before going horse riding and jumping over dry stone walls on her horse. A woman on the farm feeds some hay to the cows in a shed before moving the cattle out to clean the shed. Shots of flowers in the garden as well as children playing. Footage of the 1966 FA cup final filmed off of the television. In the next scene friends and family gather for a baby's christening. The group exit the church and take photographs outside Bispham Parish church. Later children and mothers take part in a Whit walk followed by an outdoor service then various school sports day activities. The family visit Chester Zoo and see various animals including a white peacock.

The film opens on the demolition of houses and shops in Stretford. Later a crane can be seen lifting a truck out of a ditch. We see a high rise building that is under construction. A group of men in suits wearing hard hats stand on top of the high rise building, having some drinks then later some of them pour some concrete. Exterior shots of an empty Old Trafford football ground followed by shots of supporters walking to the stadium. We see shots of the various shops that are closing down to make way for the new Stretford Arndale shopping mall. The opening of the Municipal Computer Centre followed by the opening of Osprey Court flats by the mayor with views from the top. The film ends with brief shots of the reconstruction of the footbridge over Bridgewater canal.
 
 
 
[FIELD, CHILDREN IN GARDEN, WEDDING AND OTHER SCENES]

The film opens with scenes from the Divine Rulership District Assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses, which is taking place in a football stadium. We see speakers on the stage, and people in biblical dress put on a performance. We later see people being baptised, and people making food in a marquis. We see scenery filmed while on holiday, and horses running in a field. There are caravans parked near the field and musicians play drums and guitar. A policeman arrives to investigate. We then see more musicians playing together in a band while others sit around watching. There follow scenes of children playing in the garden on a swing, and in the communal grass area on their housing estate, one of the little girls has a patch on her eye. They play fetch with a dog too. Inside the house a small child watches television. We see brief scenes from a wedding, guests arrive and pose for photos outside the church. The film ends with a play fight between two boys who throw realistic pretend punches.

The film opens with scenes from a school football match, we then see a school netball match. The film ends with a huge industrial tanker, with Capper Neill on the side, being moved on a low loader with a motorbike escort while local people stand and watch.

Spanish holiday scenes. General views of houses, balconies, bridges and a valley. The family are seen sitting at a pavement cafe and visiting an orange grove where women are seen wrapping and packing the fruit. This is followed by extended and quite explicit footage of bullfighting. More general beach and countryside scenes follow - people in a paddleboat; football on the beach; walking along rocky pathways and up to a monastery or remote village; relaxing at the poolside writing postcards.

The film opens with scenes of Robert playing with a dog in a field, and then we see Macclesfield Town FC's homecoming, possibly for winning the FA Trophy in 1970. There are large crowds of spectators waving flags and other football memorabilia while policemen guard the barriers. The team arrive on an open top bus and take turns to hold up the cup. We then see the Medley kids eating outdoors on deckchairs. This is followed by scenes of children playing in Sowcar Brook in Bollington. The adults sit on the banks of the brook with picnic baskets while the children play.There follows scenes of New Brighton with Bob and Sue, we see the family at a fairground, on the beach and having a picnic on the street. There are also scenes from Scarborough. We see views of the sea front, beach, harbour and Scarborough Castle. Children watch a Punch and Judy show, and people ride horses on the beach. We see a performing dolphin show with crowds of spectators, and shots of penguins and chimps. Then there are shots of the family on the beach. We see a river with rowing boats, and crowds of people sat on the banks. There are also model planes and boats. The family play on rocks on the beach, and there are street scenes of Scarborough. We then see the family on a coach, and then scenes from Southport. We see the family on the beach and at a fairground. The film ends with the children posing for a group photograph.
 
 
 
[HAYMAKING, WEDDING]

Haymaking on the Wild family farm in Grimsargh, plus a wedding at Grimsargh Church. There are opening scenes of hay being cut, turned, raked and baled with the help of tractors and machinery. Bales are loaded onto a trailer and taken to a barn. The Wild boys feed treats to a dog, help their mother feed calves and play football in the yard. There are exterior shots of farm buildings and brief snow scenes around the farm. Ends with shots of a wedding (believed to be Philip and Lynn) at Grimsargh Church, with the bride arriving at the church gates and photographs being taken of the wedding party.

A Granada Television documentary which focuses on a sale of L. S. Lowry's paintings in London, his domestic life in Mottram in Longdendale and preoccupation with mortality. Opens with scenes of Lowry playing football with children, tallying the value of his art and working at his home The Elms. Lowry then entertains an autograph-hunting father and daughter before walking around Manchester city centre, reminiscing how it used to be. He is shown strolling through Piccadilly Gardens, speculating on how the vagrants there fell on hard times and then reflects on mortality beside graves in a cemetery. Ends with his visit to the Leferre Gallery to promote the sale of his work and his relaxing back at home again.
 
 
 
[HOLIDAYS LITTLE HAVEN 1966]

The film opens with a close up of the 'Official Guide to Pembrokeshire'. They visit Little Haven and pass by various hotels and pubs before visiting the beach.
