This film is in two parts, the first part of the film relates to the making of the play, 'Holly from the Bongs'. There is an interview with Alan Garner the author of the play. He talks extensively about writing the play and about how his upbringing and education influenced him. We also hear from Peter Bayliss. He is the drama teacher at Manchester Grammar School and also the director of the play. He talks about directing, his methods, various collaborations in set, music and costume design and auditions at Manchester High School for Girls and Withington High School. We see scenes from the rehearsals and then we hear again from Alan Garner, this time he talks about his hopes that the proceeds from the play can be used to help underprivileged students to attend Manchester Grammar School. In the second part of the film we see the full performance of 'Holly from the Bongs' at Manchester Grammar School. | |||

A professionally shot video of a Hindu wedding ceremony at the Britannia Hotel in Offerton. The opening credits inform us that we will see Hast Melap, followed by a drinks reception and then dinner with live music. We see the outside of the hotel, followed by shots of the tables set and ready for the guests. The guests arrive and congregate at the hotel. The groom arrives and is carried in by female family members. The guests sit at the tables with snacks and drinks while the ceremony takes place. The groom takes part in various rituals, and then the bride arrives, and also takes part in rituals for the bride. The wedding ceremony then takes place. The bride and groom are seated, and they are presented with gifts by various friends and family members. They pose for photos. The guests are seated formally to eat, and the newlyweds make their entrance. After they are seated speeches are made by the bride's best friend and the best man. The newlyweds cut the cake, they feed each other cake and drink from each others champagne glasses. There are toasts and then the first dance. The guests sit and eat while others dance enthusiastically to live music. Some of the guests give dancing performances. The film ends with some more rituals for the bride and groom, who are then filmed leaving the wedding venue, and being driven away. | |||

Family scenes from the Leach family, mainly focusing on Emily. The film opens with scenes from Emily's christening party, a small family gathering in the sitting room. Emily opens her presents, aided by a little boy called Thomas, and then they play with her new spinning top. We see her cake being cut. We then see a series of small family gatherings throughout the later part of 1999, they all take place in the family home. In December we see Emily hanging up her stocking on Christmas Eve, and opening her presents on Christmas Day. In January 2000 we see Emily's first birthday, another small family party which takes place at home. Emily opens her presents and there is a buffet. Thomas is there again to help Emily open her presents, and baby Joseph looks on. We then have scenes from the demolition of a block of flats, a crowd gathers and waits expectantly until the flats are quickly demolished. There are more domestic, family scenes throughout the year 2000, All featuring Emily, her parents and grandparents and taking place in the family home and in the garden. Finally in August 2000 we see scenes from a family holiday where they visit the beach, a park and zoo. They play crazy golf and ride on a motor boat. In the final scenes we see Emily building sandcastles. | |||
