9th July 1913. Crowds gather in Burnley to await the King and Queen. The decorated streets are also crowded with people. The King and Queen arrive by car at an open air grandstand and greet civic dignitaries. There is a short ceremony and they leave, again by car.

The Royal Visit to Bacup, 9th July 1913, showing local dignitaries with their wives and families, including Joshua Craven Hoyle in army attire. John Henry Maden and family shown standing in garden of Rockliffe House. Large crowds of people in the streets of Bacup preparing for the arrival King George V and Queen Mary. The King and Queen arrive by car and are introduced by Lord Derby to the local Mayor and his wife, civic dignitaries, prominent members of the town and the old age pensioners of the Bacup area. The Royal couple then promptly leave. Includes various shots of the crowds on the streets of Bacup following the Royal visit - seen from a moving vehicle. A brief sequence shows Lama films advertising their film production on the side of a car. Concludes with footage of Tricketts Arcade in the village of Waterfoot.

Scenes from the royal visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Colne in 1913. The crowds cheer and wave as the royal car approaches. The royal couple make their way to the podium where they are greeted by civic dignitaries. The Royal couple return to their car and are driven past the cheering crowds. The civic dignitaries also depart and soon the crowds of people start to disperse. The film ends with shots filmed from a moving tram of the crowds as well as boy scouts marching along the street.

Royal visit to Liverpool in 1913 - George V, Queen Mary and the Prince of Wales (future Edward VIII) are seen arriving at St George's Hall by carriage. After an appearance on the balcony, there is a march past of territorial and auxiliary forces on St George's Plateau before the Royal party move on to the Old Tournament Hall on Edge Lane. Their final visit of the day is to see the Mauretania in dock - there are scene on board ship, and out into the Mersey.

CHORLEY'S OWN CAVALCADE FILM MEMORIES

A record of local events in and around Chorley. Opens with the royal visit to the town in 1913, including shots of the royal motorcade and crowds beside the specially-erected stage. There follows action from a Lancashire Junior Cup Final football game (featuring the Chorley team) played at Bolton in 1922, with supporters travelling from the train station to the ground. Scenes at the opening of the war memorial in Astley Park in 1924 are followed by a catholic procession through the town on June 20th 1926 and a Walking Day featuring Church of England sunday schools on June 24th 1922. Ends with inter-titles about the 1924 East Ward Carnival but no subsequent footage of the event.

LANCASTER ASSIZES

A ceremonial procession through the streets of Lancaster. The judge and other civic dignitaries arrive at a church in a horse-drawn carriage wearing full regalia. The procession moves to the Shire Hall where a crowd of spectators stand watching from the first floor balcony of the hall.

The film begins with shots of Morecambe Volunteers preparing to go to war. A group of women are seen unloading blankets at a collection point outside the Art School and the 5th Kings Own Lancaster Territorial Army mobilise at Bowerham Barracks before leaving for Castle Station. Concludes with footage of the Mayor and Mayoress standing on the platform bidding farewell to soldiers who are seen leaning out of their railway carriages, waving handkerchiefs at their family and friends.

Crowds of spectators line the streets of Morecambe, holding umbrellas and flags, as a procession of boy scouts, policemen, soldiers, firemen, civic dignitaries and a brass band walk past. Further celebrations of the Mayor's Sunday continue with shots of the war memorial in the town square and the Mayor and his party entering a civic building.
