['OMEP' PARTY ON THE RHINE]

During the World Assembly of OMEP (the World Organisation for Early Childhood Education) in Bonn, delegates are seen embarking on the Kuln-Dusseldorf ferry. The boat sets off down the river Rhine as musicians and singers entertain those on board, who dance along to the music and enjoy the scenery. The scenery includes shots of coastal villages, the countryside, other ships and boats, the railway, and various castles. The party onboard continues as dusk falls.

The Queen and Prince Philip arrive at Barrow-in-Furness shipyard for the launch of HMS Sheffield, a navy destroyer, on 10 June 1971. After being shown around and presented with a bouquet by twin sisters, the Queen launches the ship. Once the ship is safely in the water, the keel of a new ship being built for the Argentine Navy, the Hercules, is swung into place on the slipway.

We see the wedding party, family and friends arriving at the registry office, and then they are seen departing the registry office and arriving at the church for a blessing. After shots of children playing in a large garden, the reel ends with scenes at Rhyl, where young Bryan sails his model boat, plays on a trampoline and feeds a rabbit.

Various carnival queens pose for a photographer and then we see the carnival parade featuring floats, dance troupes, Scottish pipe, brass and drum bands and people in fancy dress. There follow scenes of fireworks and a bonfire from the Whitworth Parish Church Bonfire Night and then we see boys and girls races at Tonacliffe School Sports Day. After shots of Blackpool Tower and the Illuminations we see the Healey Parish Sunday School and Hallfold Congregational Church Whitsuntide walks with members of the clergy, choirs, religious banners, a brass band and Rose Queens.

Scenes from Hallfold Congregational Church Whitsuntide Walk are followed by Facit St. John's and Millgate Baptist combined Whit Walk with clergy, banners, Rose Queens, brass bands and Girl Guides taking part in the walk. We then see scenes from a Gala Day at Whitworth County Secondary School with dance troupes, various stalls, fairground rides and judo demonstrations. We also see dog obedience demonstrations where dogs perform a variety of tasks including jumping though hoops which have been set on fire. Mrs J Tierney, the second Lady Chairman of the Council, leads a procession of civic dignitaries to the Civic Hall.
 
 
 
[LANEHEAD, WHAM DAM AND BROADLEY]

The film opens with brief scenes of the Facit St. John's and Millgate Baptist combined Whit Walk and then we see a trip to Lanehead. There are countryside views, and rivers, streams and waterfalls. Children play in a playground and there are scenes of children paddling and swimming in Wham Dam. Families sunbathe by the side of the water. There follow scenes from Broadley. We see Birch Villas being sandblasted by a company called Blastclean Co., and later a woman clears the sand from her windowsill. The last ever train from Broadley to Bacup leaves the station packed with people. We then see a brief shot of the front page of a newspaper, there is a photo of a road with terraced housing, and then we see a shot of the street to which the article relates.

The Preston Round Table steam event to raise money for underpriviliged children, held at Fulwood Barracks in Preston on the 11th and 12th September 1971. Vintage cars, traction and steam rollers drive around the parade ground. A musical steam organ plays to enraptured children who then take rides on a miniature steam railway. Morris dancers, pipers and the King's Division marching band provide further entertainment for the crowds of spectators.

Performing seals are followed by a squirel in the garden. Mrs Hodson and a boy in the poolside showers then the boys in the swimming pool. Views of a hotel then a children's entertainer being pushed into the pool. A chimps tea party at Paignton zoo and scenes from a model village. Brief shots of a wedding with the bride and groom posing for photos while guests mingle in the churchyard.
 
 
 
THE TAX MAN RUNNETH

A short comedic film that starts with a tax bill arriving and the recipient going to see the tax inspector. Before going in to see the inspector he gives his money and watch to a stranger so he can plead poverty to the inspector who takes pity upon him and gives him some money. The film ends with the stranger paying his debt with the money and watch.

Wedding guests arrive at Wilmslow Methodist Church on a cold day, followed by the groom, and the bride with her father. Photographs are taken outside the church, and again after the ceremony, with the bridal couple, bridesmaid, and close family posing for pictures. At the reception venue, more photographs are taken in the gardens, while indoors, two guests look at the wedding cake before it is cut.
 
 
 
[FLOWER & VEG COMPETITION; SANTA AT THE UNITED CLUB]

Two judges in the United Club judge flower and vegetable growing competitions before the public and competitors are allowed into the room to examine the exhibits. Trophies are awarded for the best in show for growing chrysanthemums. Various children sing on the stage at the United Working Men's club as a large crowd of children await the arrival of Santa. On his arrival he exchanges presents for tickets that the children are holding.

Wedding guests arrive at Manchester Registry Office. There are brief scenes from the ceremony, then the couple, dressed in the fashions of the day, exit for photographs as friends and family throw confetti. The happy couple are then seen departing in a VW Beetle. The reel ends with an elderly lady and teenage girl walking along the city walls in Chester.

The films opens with a group of small boys throwing fallen branches at horse chestnut trees to bring down the conkers which they collect in bags. A boy climbs the tree. We then see children playing in the snow while a man clears the drive with a shovel. We see views of the countryside and a transmission tower from a moving car. A family play with a skipping rope in a garden. There follow scenes from Macclesfield Carnival. there are floats and dance troupes. Some of the signs on the floats can be clearly seen, 'Silk Queen 1971', Marple Carnival Queen Christine', 'Silk Princesses 1971' and 'Droylsden Carnival Queen'.
