A group of lads and two adults are seen playing football on Beech Avenue Field in Timperley. The Rice family take a trip to Chester Zoo - views of the different animals and birds, including a gorilla playing with its keeper. Another day trip to Alton Towers is also seen - with David and Nigel enjoying a donkey ride, and views of the gardens.
 
 
 
LIVING IN STYAL

Film about life in Styal. Opens with footage from Manchester, ten miles from Styal, showing heavy traffic and busy shopping areas. Continues with shots of the countryside around Styal, the village and farmland. Places of worship, businesses, a school, the police station and Styal railway station are all seen as is the interior and exterior of The Old Ship Inn. On 12th May 1970, Ethel Gee (one of the Portland Spy Ring) is seen leaving Styal Women's Prison, pursued by camera crews and journalists. She gives a brief interview to the media. Various activities are featured including farming, a cricket match, a football match, a play and an artist at work. A brass band, majorettes and children in fancy dress are seen at a fete and Rose Queen celebrations are featured. There is footage from a jumble sale, Bonfire Night and Remembrance Sunday as well as a Christmas dinner. The film progresses from one summer to the next spring with shots of the area illustrating the seasons, a snowbound Styal is seen prior to shots of recently hatched birds. The film closes with footage of Manchester Airport.
 
 
 
[THE FLEMINGS]

Film of John Fleming's family, taken over a period of several years. Andrew Fleming is seen with his grandparents, James and Mary, outside the church at his Christening, and the other three Fleming children are seen playing in the garden and in the street. They are seen with their mother, Dororthy, at Morecambe, at a funfair and on the beach. The family watch the last British Rail steam train pass their house on 11 August 1968, and then are seen enjoying a camping trip and watching the paddle steamer Waverley leave shore. The film ends with the family and their pets outside their house.

Smith family camping holiday at Highbank Farm, Hardhorn - playing on the farm and feeding the chickens. They rent a beach hut at Cleveleys and the kids play on the beach before visiting a playground. A visit to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and the kids go on some small rides. The family are then seen boarding a plane at Manchester Airport, and the take-off is filmed through the window. In America, Michael goes sledging with relatives and the Christmas tree is collected, before the adults dance at a party. They go sightseeing in Washington, Gettysburg and Annapolis. The family stay at a Countryside Holiday Association hostel in Freshwater Bay. The family visit many places on the island, including Carisbrook Castle, Osborne House and the village of Godshill, where they watch thatchers at work. They family go to the swimming pool, and play cricket with a football on a [dirty] beach.

On 24 June 1967, the Sunday School children go on a trip to Heaton Park. They are seen setting off from Levenshulme by bus, as well as running races and playing games in the park.

The Vickers Centenary Gala on 10th June 1967, held at Vickers Sports Club in Hawcoat Park in Barrow begins with two men sat on a pole pillow fighting above a pool of water. A gymnastic team tumbling and trampolining in front of a large crowd of spectators. Chefs basting and cutting an ox roast as people queue to be fed. Match action from a ladies' football match between the engineers and shipbuilders. Majorettes dance with pom-poms followed by a tug-of-war, then underexposed footage of couples dancing to a band. After a firework display we have a procession led by Highland pipers through the streets of Barrow to and from a large church. The film ends with a parachute display team landing onto the sports ground.
 
 
 
FACES AND PLACES

A compilation of films taken in and around Frizington in Cumbria and a trip to Scotland. Lakeland scenes are followed by a snowy bungalow and countryside. A crane lifting and moving a stone column then men tarmacking the bungalows driveway and laying ornamental bricks in the garden. 'Frizzington Tigers versus ?' a men v women football match on a very muddy pitch! A journey on the Eskdale and Ravenglass miniature railway is followed by a carnival parade with decorated floats, marching bands and fancy dress. A man on a scooter and a tractor ploughing a field are followed by a handful of baby mice The film ends with a visit to Feugh Bridge and Crathie Parish Church in Scotland with distant views of Balmoral.
 
 
 
FUN DAY 1967

A little girl falls in the mud and cries, so begins the preparations for the very wet and muddy Burnley Fun Day Carnival. We see stalls and floats being decorated on the morning of the carnival. On a very wet day the carnival parade through the centre of Burnley begins with floats, marching bands and children in fancy dress collecting money for charity. Various groups are involved in the parade such as the Boys and Girls Brigade, Cub Scouts and Sea cadets. At the very muddy carnival show ground people help to move cars that have got stuck and despite the conditions attempt to enjoy themselves with various activities such as football, archery and rope slides. The film ends with the Mayor presenting trophies.

WORK BEGAN ON THE NEW SCHOOL SEPT. 25TH 1967

The building of a new junior school in the village of Grimsargh, Lancashire. After scenes of the muddy site and building work there are exterior shots of the old school, built in 1809. Pupils and staff watch the last freight train go past the school on 3rd November 1967. The new school nears completion with shots of roofers at work. Scenes from a schoolboy football match in Spring 1968 are followed by footage of the newly-furnished school interior. Children play in the old school yard in its last days before the new school is formally opened on 29th September 1968 with a procession from the local church and a ceremony at the new building.
 
 
 
[GOODBYE TO THE OLD SCHOOL AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW SCHOOL IN GRIMSNARGH]

This film documents the closing of the old school and the construction and opening of the new school, St. Michael's Church School, in Grimsargh. The opening title tells us that work began on the new school on 25th September 1967 and we see views of the building site. We also see views of the old school constructed in 1809. The film records the last time the students will see a train pass by their school, on November 3rd 1967. The students watch the freight train as it passes, and there are close up shots of the train as it hooks up to trucks filled with coal in the sidings. There are scenes from a school football match that took place in Spring 1968. We see inside the new school, and then we see the students leaving the old school for the last time. The new school opened on St Michael's Day (29th September) 1968. We see views of St. Michael's church in Grimsargh and then a parade which includes members of the choir and clergymen walking to the church. A ceremony lead by the clergymen takes place outside the school and then it is officially open and everybody is allowed to go in. The film ends with scenes of children playing in the new school playground.

Scenes shot in Ordsall, Salford, with children playing and shots of derelict and occupied terraced houses on the same street. Other footage includes land cleared for construction of tower blocks, passersby on a terraced street, boys fighting and playing amongst abandoned furniture and scenes of pets. The docks are glimpsed, and later there are scenes of bales of cotton being unloaded, the trailers from container lorries stacked on the deck, and a car being lowered by crane into the hold. Other shots show crates from the Middle East. The final section shows scenes in a Salford Park and shots of a Salford University hall of residence.

Compilation of different days out, races and events by the Cyclist Touring Club. Cycling near Clitheroe Castle, a hill climb near Pendle and a cycle race at the seafront in Morecambe. A football match at Belmont, Bolton is seen, as well as the Cyclist Touring Club camp at York race-course in 1972. Another race at Weeton, Lancashire is shown, and the film concludes with a Remembrance Day Parade in Blackburn.
